ReCycle Project

The GREAN ReCycle project refurbishes bikes that would otherwise be scrapped and landfilled. It has funding until September 2012.
Our well-equipped workshop in Unit 1, Golspie Industrial Estate, employs a bike mechanic and trainee. Volunteers are welcome, and anyone interested in learning about bikes should enquire at or 'phone 01408 634253.
Bikes are collected from a number of sources. Bikes for repair and refurbishment are selected and the remainder are stripped down into component parts for reuse or recycling. All parts are reused or recycled.
We also provide a repair service, with concessions. Most bikes are delivered to the workshop for repair, but GREAN recycling vehicles can pick up bikes on their routes by arrangement. The bike can only be uplifted on normal kerbside recycling collection days and will be returned when repairs have been completed.
Refurbished bikes are on sale in the workshop and our staff will be pleased to make adjustments for customers as required.
GREAN ReCycle is funded by the Robertson Trust and the Increase III Programme. The aim of the INCREASE III Programme is to help not-for-profit, community based organisations develop projects that will increase the reduction, reuse and recycling of waste in line with the move towards a Zero Waste Scotland.

Those machines too far gone to be worth rescuing are crushed after being stripped of useful parts.
